I love Hadid's furniture design, especially the Aqua table, but the cost is prohibitive for anyone not owning a large software company or an airline or two... Mass retailers have been able to generate new interest in the design of ordinary objects, and this has caused "ordinary" people to rethink architects and the built environment. However, architects are still seen as Howard Roarks, and many of the architects with a capital A perpetuate the myth. When will we see great built environments for the masses?

"Dwell Magazine", and other mass media are promoting prefab and green construction, and while the audience is still growing, a lot of architects won't meet the client halfway. I refuse to live in a crap dwelling or buy another piece of crap furniture. In fact, if I like Hadid's table, I'll draw up a similar design using green materials to fit the space I live in. (I could see this in frosted reinforced safety glas with the top separate for additional design versatility).

Thoughts?
