Love it or hate it, it's the most renouned architectural prize today. It's the induction as an offical starchitect. This years winner can be found (here).

Who do you think this should have been awarded to? Any nominations for next year?

Jean Nouvel ... has won the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2008, for his “courageous pursuit, exuberance and insatiable urge for creative experimentation.” <--- this is true.

Offical starchitectdom OK, he had that before anyway. In fact, he plays that role less than many of the others and has had to wait longer than they for this "official" recognition. At least he still carries some "controversy" around (see bottom of article), which is always a good sign ;P

Jean Nouvel is the second French architect to receive it. <--- FYI ... the first was Christian de Portzemparc, who in my view is far less innovative.

Sloppy journalism in this article :
"Loyn Opera House" = Lyon <-- great project !
"Novell" ... lol
John Hejduk should have won one !
I worked in IM Pei's office ... 1990 to 1991, just after he decided to leave, and I still know a few ppl that work with him. He himself is a magical guy, for sure.
Unfortunately, his collective office designs with partners Jim Freed and Harry Cobb remain associated with heavy and conservative "corporate" culture, except for exceptional works such as the Louvre renovation.
How long will this last before history picks out the gems of his oeuvre ? I dunno ...
... and jeez OZ .. stop spamming plz ...
His BIO could have been a simple link !
;P
K ;P
