Which is in your opinion the best 3D software for Architecture, and why?

I am an architect but I enjoy 3D modelling very much, I am interested in finding the best 3D tool and start learning it.

Thanks for your opinons! :)

m half way through 3ds max..lets hope i break a leg in dat :P

Not any more! Take a look at the 3DS Max killer!

Actually, as I have mentioned recently, you don't have to play with Revit to do anything in the way of renderings now. You can use a new plug-in for Revit called REFLEX Render. You will save a lot of time, days worth and see your buildings in a whole new light, Actual! Work in Revit and stay there! Why wait to set up and complete a rendering to make a design decision? Decide now with REFLEX Render... I am sound like car commercial- lol

FormZ is easy to use, just like a real tool. Something between rigurousity of an engineering CAD with few settings of textures, lights and speedy renderings. just a great fast tool for any architect/designer for good results in a quick time.
good luck.
sounds interesting...

Interesting design!

can organic shapes be designed and rendered in any of these programs??
Yes they can all of these programs will render anything that you can model in them. It just takes practice on creating the desired forms.
soon ..............................................................................?
Arhicad is by far the superior BIM (Building information modeling) format. Full 3d capabilities used to produce construction documents. I've taken a variety of informal surveys and have found a lot of mixed opions concerning Revit vs Archicad It seems that the primary opinion is in favor of Archicad. Mosrtly from people who used both. Archicad is more intuitive and user friendly, with more flexibility.
