I keep watching this website with interest. I am not a professional in any of these areas, but I have been an interested amateur all my life. Just after high school, I designed my own house with a kitchen that folded together, leaving cabinet doors available to a large party room, I still have blueprints of economical homes that I designed and drew in classes. So I have a great history with a love for design and building. At present, I am rebuilding six acres of land which has sat unoccupied and over grown for over fifty years. I have spent considerable time clearing dead and down trees from which I build furniture, a small 16 X 12 storage room, chicken house, a two story outdoor kitchen, among other things. This overgrown land was half stagnant water, half hurricane damaged forest and nothing was accessible. Now, the place where my five bedroom, three bath house sits was once a swampy pit where trucks delivering material used to get stuck in the deep gumbo. The first thing I did was buy a MX5000 Kabota Tractor to push delivery vehicles out of the mud and debris. The second thing was to erect a metal building 51 X 30 to store my tractor and equipment in and give me a dry place to stay while I made a driveway and cleared the trees. It has been fun. I am still cutting dead trees and to date, I have salvaged over 12,000 good bd ft of maple, oak and poplar. Oh, I forgot to mention, I dug a large pond and stocked it with fish and placed 10 beautiful Chinese Geese on it for beauty. Some of the pictures are on my page here. Is this what you mean by organic landscaping? I might add that for eight years I have supplied several families with winter heating wood at no cost to them.

Amin, Are you asking about organic landscape architecture and design? I too would be interested in that discussion. If you are asking about organic architecture design, which I am also interested in, I am not sure this Landscape group is the right place for that.

19% of this planet is above sea level ...of that approx 1 or 2 % is impermeable- - man made

perhaps we shold build on :

rock

the waters edge -( to stabilize erosion )

-man made islands

and when on natural land /then perhaps above grade on pile /pole foudations UNLESS THE DENSITY OF IMPERVIOUS CONSTRUCTION IS LESS THAN 10% OF AN ACRE

or perhaps we build a linear development on the equator ;as if a long man made moutain ..so the planet benefits by rotational stabilization ..then only camps/resorts would be developed in nature

I am interested in landscape in an embracive sense of the word - design that includes the whole environment: roads, wildlife, waterways, etc. It seems that landscape architects are taking on greater responsibility for the natural and built environment, which embraces far more than most clients associate with landscaping.
