Some of this signs look like house marks used in many cultures. That one you have pointed out look more like crescents, than firesteels in the coat of arms of Serbia. But what the sign mean? I do not know! Maby it have somthing whit fertility to do.
Comment by jadranka ahlgren on September 28, 2012 at 5:32am This woman from Kallasha Valley, near Himalayas, India, have 4 points on her face, tattoo like sign we were talking about, on Serbian coat of arm...
Very old sign we find also in neolithic Vinca culture, Serbia 4.500 BC / near Belgrade... In ancient Greece, also, Ancient Kreta, but also Sparta princess Helen /Beautiful Helen/ had same signature painted on her face - for points, but red - and with radiating streak - like sun...I will find this picture, too... Now I am realu intrigated what mean this sign... 4 seasons, 4 sides of the world...or what... What do You think about that

Comment by jadranka ahlgren on January 8, 2012 at 6:36pm I had I had investigate little about the 4 S. About 1800, Serbian modern country was made after 500 years of Turkish ocupation/ and goverment took this very old symbol / from ancient period and neolitic times, we have this symbol in Neolitic culture of Vinca, 4.500 bc near Belgrade/ but, with forgoten meaning...Originaly, it mean: 4 moons and cross - four season / and seams that was conected with fertuliti and woman gods / neolitic Vinca culture was also woman's culture/.So, in Greace, Godes Artemida bear it, But Ahiles, and other Gods too.

Comment by jadranka ahlgren on November 5, 2011 at 7:50pm In the school I was learning that this 4 "S" means: Samo sloga srbina spasava, or: Only unity seve the Serbs, and that this is words of some fameus man from history... But... it was period of socialism and, realy, I newer interested more... Firesteels is important in serbians cult because serbs had lived most in traditional village, poor society... all the time till 1945... Thanks for coment I will ask some friends
