About Me:
I am an Architect, Urban Planner, Land Planner and LEED Consultant with extensive leadership experience in all aspects of Architecture, Design, Planning and Construction. I've had a primary leadership role in the design and construction of over 500 projects, including a wide variety of project types; Commercial, Office, Industrial, Institutional, Government, Military, Health Care, Corrections, Public Safety, Transportation, Technology, Condominiums, Multifamily Residential, Custom Residential, Hospitality-Gaming-Hotel-Resorts, Golf & Ski Resorts, Historic Restoration, Mixed Use, High-Rise, Urban Design, Land Planning, Master Planning, Campus Planning, City Planning & Regional Planning.

I have over 30 years of practice in sustainable and environmental design and I have been active in the Nevada USGBC Chapter since it began to organize in 2002. I am currently on the Board of Directors of the Nevada USGBC Chapter. I have been leading, facilitating and teaching USGBC LEED® GA and AP study groups locally for approximately the past 5 years and I am a LEED Accredited Professional. I am also teaching LEED GA and LEED AP classes to the Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council membership. For the 2010 spring semester, I taught "Environmental Control Systems", with an emphasis on sustainability to the 3rd and 5th year design students at the UNLV School of Architecture. Our architecture school participated in the competitions for the 2011 and 2013 EPA National Solar Decathlon and I assisted with this effort as a university faculty member and USGBC member. I was awarded the 2009 US Green Building Council Nevada Leadership Award in Education for my dedication and commitment to the principals of Green Building and Environmental Stewardship.

In an effort to lower my personal carbon foot print, my home was converted to solar power in December of 2010. My home was built in 2003 and since that time I have made a number of energy saving upgrades. I added more insulation to the attic to achieve R-60 and I installed a radiant barrier on the underside of the top chord of the roof trusses to reflect the summer heat. I then installed a 4.8 KW PV system in December of 2010. My new HERS rating in 2011 was 30, or 70% better than Energy Star. I also hope to install an ERV for better ventilation and possibly a solar attic fan. We recently purchased a beautiful 2013 Chevy Volt as our solar powered electric car (charged each day in our solar home) to meet our general transportation needs.

Our New Solar Powered Car

Well, our great electric car hunt is completed. We purchased a beautiful and loaded chrystal red 2013 Chevy Volt about three weeks ago. My spouse has not been this excited about an automobile since before she totaled her 240z Datsun many years ago. We recharge our new Volt each evening in our solar powered home; so she drives our new solar powered vehicle to work each day and can then conduct a show and tell with her fellow worker bees while she escorts them during their lunch break. This…See More
