First off, I'll confess that that the title is stolen. I'll next admit some surprise that debate still ensues about ORIGINAL; whether it exists and what it means and that my immediate reflex to the subject is annoyance at this navel gazing, kite flying preoccupation that extends unnecessary limbo to important things by those most capable of doing them. Refreshed with that venting impulse, I set about to originate on so many other topics inspired by other comments to Madmen, but

A zero-carbon home is one that returns to the National Grid as much power as it uses over the course of a year. Unless you plan on living somewhere with no heating, electricity or water, that means a zero-carbon home will need to be kitted out with equipment for microgeneration – the production of energy on a small scale.
So, in come mini-wind turbines, solar panels and a wood pellet burner for generating energy. Meanwhile, to keep that precious energy in you will need clever,…

What is your Greatest Fear?
Surveys on this subject place 'Fear of Public Speaking' at the top of the list, before death. As, Jerry Seinfeld observed, "that means at a funeral you would rather be in the box, than giving the Eulogy".
Human behavior 'experts' think this fear is an indelible mark leftover from our real fear as primitive beings, of being eaten any time we might encounter an unfamiliar group or tribe. For performing artists, this fear is a constant challenge; what…

I just returned from a week long trip to the Ocho Rios area of Jamaica. Since we didn't rent a car we took an excursion with one of the hotel staff to see were Bob Marley was raised and laid to rest. Bob Marley spent a lot of time in a mountain village in the mountains near Ocho Rios. This is where he meditated and created most of his Reggae music. I would speculate that a lot of his meditation was promoted with a little help from the local Marijuana.
It was surprising to learn that…

Hi everyone!
We just started a new semester. A new project for the next 12 weeks has also to be developed - technology and selfsustainable architecture - sounds "big"... More hard for students will be not only to learn about it, but also to create their own themes...plus their designs. Therefore first few weeks will be very much needed to get a lot of specific documentation. So l invite anyone from you to post any usefull link as a comment to my…

Yah...I'm talking to you...and I'm looking at you...and I see you...and I see ME...and I wonder why we join groups and start discussions and ad videos and set up pages and blog and post and still accomplish so little with all this virtual effort. How many groups do we belong to here...Why do these groups get members so quickly and then die a slow death...Are we all just bored...Are we all just type talking with never the intention of real involvement?...Is that what we are so attracted…

Internet world is sometimes so amazing. You can meet special people whom otherway you would have no chance to ever meet in real. After you virtually know them, then you can establish real possible meetings afterwards. I name this a Priviledge! How would my little 6 years old niece name it otherway than a Priviledge - this possibility to chat with Santa Claus via Internet? :)

l could have the Priviledge to meet a good romanian film director last…

I learned in school about the importance of a clear bubble diagram in the process of conceptualizing my designs. The "Relationship Diagram" or "Bubble Diagram" is a very simple drawing that consists of roughly drawn bubbles (representing spaces) connected by solid lines, broken lines or wavy lines to specify the type of relationship between the spaces.
Beyond the bubble diagrams for our projects at the office, organizing all kind of thoughts in a sort of visual manner has always been my…

I swear I have the worst teacher on the planet of architecture schools!!! He assigned us to create a sustainable facade for the Ca' d'Oro in Venice Italy and I had this idea to take the patchwork that had been created from the series of restorations over the years and take the assymetrical design and put them together!! but he HATES my idea but everyone else likes it including me. I have to convince him that my idea is legitimate.
The only problem is adding sustainable parts to it. I…

So long, frank lloyd wright.
I cant believe your song is gone so soon.
I barely learned the tune
So soon
So soon.
Ill remember frank lloyd wright.
All of the nights wed harmonize till dawn.
I never laughed so long
So long
So long.
Chorus
Architects may come and
Architects may go and
Never change your point of view.
When I run dry
I stop awhile and think of you
So long, frank lloyd wright

Here are some responses to the previous Alpha Manifesto post...I'm not convinced that these contributions are as much manifesto as they are manifestation, but as expressions of awareness they are most worthy as stuff for creative consideration and enlightenment.

Dominick Tringali Architects (DTA) in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., is raising the bar for Habitat for Humanity homes built in the Detroit area with a model designed to achieve LEED-Platinum and Green Built Michigan certifications. The first unit in Pontiac was completed in November.
“Our goal was to create a sustainable prototype home for Habitat for Humanity that meets LEED requirements and raises the benchmark for future affordable housing,” says Steve McKay, lead designer for DTA on the…

Hi, I have to come up with an idea for a space to exhibit echo women products and accesories.
Should be very open, light and great modern design.
I'm helping a friend, is it a long time I don't do Architectural Design...
Someone knows a link where to get inspired on this specific ?
Thanks!!

Alpha Beta MANIFESTO 09
A personal Manifesto is a valuable tool to define who you are and keep you on track. Because it reveals so much about who you are, some deviant employers are now asking for it along with your resume. A fun, challenging way to create it uses Alpha letters to choose keywords that start a single phrase to describe ideas, beliefs and guiding principles. This is mine...Show me yours?:)
ARTIST is our true SuperHero, s/he creates everything, is our…

اصلا به کسی چه که نقطه گریز این دیوار چیست؟

و این ما هستیم که خود، باید سروته فضا را پیدا کنیم _
