Rush rush rush... some mornings are like that

Today I got up late at 5:30 so I was in a bit of a rush – but I still made my call at 6am with a full mug of black coffee.

It’s a full day for me with a friend coming up around 10:30 for a brief meeting on the house. Then back to work until 5:30

I plan to do a BBQ tonight for the family then back to finish off the Thursday File. Which I might add is really late this week.

The fly I mentioned yesterday met his end but today another one took his place. He is playing hid… Continue

sleepless night leads into along day

I could not sleep last night – up at 3:30 a.m. My mind would not turn off; knowing that sleep was past I came downstairs to read which turned into working a touch on the computer.

There is this fly and it keep landing on my screen; making, I’m sure little pad prints all over it; he will not land on anything else. It’s driving me crazy.

Today is the day Beverly works behind the mall over in Dieppe so she will drop me off at Starbucks around 9 and picks me up around… Continue

it was like drinking mud

Nathan and Shirley came up for dinner yesterday but I was out of it with a strong headache. I wasn’t so much fun. Just as well as Beverly, Shirley, Nathan, and Liz talked most about the upcoming wedding.

Nathan made coffee after dinner – as you know I drink it black and no sugar – he used my good coffee – but when I took my first sip it was like drinking mud; how much coffee did you use three or four scoops? – I didn’t see the scoop, so I just poured it in. – I got that look from… Continue

Guess whose coming for dinner?

It looks like it’s going to be a wonderful day out there; not a cloud in the sky.

We worked on our garden yesterday for over four hours. The sun was hot but it’s so addictive once you start it’s had to stop; looking good though.

I’ve got a lot of work to do this morning in my Studio. Liz was in yesterday cleaning up my book case that covers one side of the room. She organized and labeled the shelves so I’ll know what’s what. I’ll now have to find the book I want, but it… Continue

Saturday, lets get going. . .

We are not sure if it's going to rain or just stay overcast but I would like to spend some time in the garden this morning weeding. I finished my work early this morning with three phone calls to Paris.

Just spending some time with Beverly today will be great; cleaning up the studio along with some office work.

Bev has just left to pick up some eggs and milk at the corner store, well I take a shower.

Maybe we’ll grab a light lunch out or take in a movie tonight; if we get all our… Continue

From students to architects

Dear Young Architects,

Most of us are really skeptical about what should we do and where should we go after college days. Some take up design work, while others like site work more.

It's a matter of your core-what you decide. You can be really fond of making a max model, or relish talking with others in clubs. It is really difficult when you look at totalitarian aspects of architecture.

Draw a circle on a tracing paper. & try to lay up various aspects of… Continue

the weeds are planning an attack.

What a great day – lots of work; met a few new people and had some time to work on the Thursday File web site. It should be up any day now.

I plan now to go out and work on the garden – the weeds are planning an attack. I need to get out there and clear them out. The plants are looking very good; in fact I’m looking forward to picking my first Zucchini tomorrow. I like to pick them when they’re quite small rather, than letting them get large.

I wished it would just rain –… Continue

another not so nice day but. . .

Another not so nice day but I hear Montreal had severe thunderstorms and they had a Tornado-like waterspout - http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/2008/07/23/qc-waterspout0723.html

Had two mugs of coffee this morning and I feel I’m flying high. But at the same time I’m totally existed – got to bed too late the last couple of nights.

I think this weekend I will just chill out if I can with Beverly – maybe get to the beach out in Shediac, depending on the weather of… Continue

The forecast is sun but it looks like a storm

Today started not so good, very hard to get out of bed. I went to bed late and could not sleep; too much on my mind, these little gray cells are overworked at the moment.

It does not seem like we will get the storm that they forecasted for us. The weather they say will be 16-20°C with sun. But you never know.

I’ve got my coffee and I’ve just finished talking to a woman in Paris. Later I will call Bordeaux, Montpellier, and Strasbourg along with one from Germany and two… Continue

free day, well almost

My morning classes canceled; I have the morning off right up until 2pm, it's like “Total Freedom” - at first you think “what am I going to do, relax enjoy the time you have” - then it hits you – time is too precious to slip by – plan it out and be constructive well it’s still early. Here I go. . . I think I’ll start by taking Beverly to breakfast.

I miss my sun

Well after a good three weeks of sun and hot weather I guess it's only natural that it would have to rain sometime.

I got up around 5:30; the rain was coming down and it's still coming down. We do need it. But I miss my sun.

it could be. . .

As I look out the window, it's about 7:30am, I slept in, there's little wind yet lots of clouds covering the sky but for the moment the sun is out casting long shadows across the property. My studio is in full sunlight, lifting ones sprits; leading one to think it could be a very nice day.

I want to do so much today, the mornings always fill me with that desire, but if I don’t get started I find myself losing steam pretty fast. So here I go starting with a blog.

It's going to be an interesting day

Got my coffee and I’m already to take my first phone call. It looks like it’s going to be an interesting day for there is a lot of clouds but they are moving very fast and we have some fog up on the hill.

The garden; growing like a madman. Lots of tomatoes and the Zucchini are growing so fast we might pick the first by tomorrow.

I have a doctor's appointment at 9; if it does not take too long I think I will take a little trip over to Starbucks and have another cup of coffee

Two Polish workers find pounds 200,000 in air vent

TWO Polish workers found pounds 200,000 cash in an air vent at a swanky Birmingham skyscraper - and handed it over to the cops.

The contractors, who were working on an air conditioning pipeline, came across the fortune on the top oor of the exclusive Beetham Tower in the city centre.

But rather than keep the stash, the honest workers immediately passed it on to detectives.

Now West Midlands Police are probing the mysterious money and have searched an apartment… Continue

Russia's richest woman denies buying London pad

Russia’s richest woman and wife of Moscow’s Mayor, has denied reports she’s purchased a massive 90-room London pad. Earlier there were reports that Elena Baturina splashed around $US 100 million for the Witanhurst estate, Britain’s second largest home behind Buckingham Palace.

It dates back to the early 18th century, and the opulent interior of the mansion has made it a popular filming location, with several thrillers and period dramas shot… Continue
