“Person Parking” designed by Springtime.

"The design is part of a competition called “Duepercinque” which aims to allot street space to more than just cars. The design by Springtime opts for a cement block with “Person Parking” signs."

Well, quite an interesting idea in the way of returning public space to the public. But I don't see anyone sitting in a crowded street on this parking spot. I think it is more suitable for a low traffic street. I feel already the heat and the fuel of the car...

Yes ! That DOES sound like a good idea!
Then we could TICKET those people who park there for too long, or CLAMP them perhaps.
Some that seem to be abandoned or broken down might have to TOWED away and IMPOUNDED.
We really can't have people just leaving their bodies wandering around absentmindedly in public places!! As you can see, one of the yellow stickpeople seems to have become detached from his head, and would lose it altogether if he wasn't holding onto it!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you as in not seeing people sitting in crowded streets, yet my city (Santo Domingo, capitol of Dominican Republic) thrives public spaces, specially for weekends and holidays, where main streets are completely covered with cars from side to side. The lack of public areas in the capitol, wether its in a daily basis or for special occasions continues to create violent spaces and public threats. I will make sure I post some pictures for next week so you can see exactly what I refer my self to. And even then, to top it of, the areas that are designated as public aren't pedestrian friendly.

I agree. People Parking is more of a cool concept to stimulate thought and invite people to see things differently than something one would actually use, perhaps.

Did you see another concept to transform motorways by Dutton architects? Again, perhaps not feasible, but an interesting concept - to systematically and radically alter Los Angeles freeways into 'greenways.' (The link is to the manifesto.)
